Global Intergenerational Week
As part of Global Intergenerational Week, our Year 7 pupils hosted a very special event that brought generations together through learning and conversation. Led by the Dream Space Digital Leaders, with fantastic support from the rest of Year 7, the children invited older members of their families into school to take part in an Older Wiser Learner (OWL) session.
The pupils confidently led the adults through an interactive lesson on online safety, sharing their knowledge in a warm, welcoming and respectful way. The session focused on building confidence, knowledge and trust when using technology. Together, they explored common digital challenges and learned practical tips such as creating strong passwords, spotting scams, being careful with links, protecting personal information and remembering to always stop and think before acting online.
Through discussion, reflection activities and fun “cyber conundrums’”, pupils and family members worked side-by-side, learning from one another and sharing experiences. The highlight was a collaborative cyber security escape room challenge, where teamwork and problem-solving work key.
It was a wonderful example of people leadership in action and showed how powerful learning can be when generations come together. The event strengthened community links and reminded everyone that learning truly lasts a lifetime.
This event was kindly funded by the Public Health Agency and Linking Generations NI.
